Hay Market

Education and Working

At the Haymarket they do a number of workshops that are accessible to individuals as well as school groups. In these workshops you will get the chance to work with the directors, actors and the production team, they will give you an insight into the working aspects as well as the acting of their production. They will also lead discussions on how they took the script on paper and developed it into the wonderful play that it is now, you will also get the chance to act some of your favourite scenes of the play yourself and if the play is a musical you will often get the chance to learn a song or two! Within the package you will also get a ticket to see the matinee performance, special prices to groups over 20 people are available.

Haymarket also have their own Youth Theatre that often tours, the club is for young people aged 14 to 19. Auditions are held for those wanting to become a part of the Haymarket Youth Theatre group. The Haymarket Theatre is also part of the work placement scheme and so people from school and organisations are able to get a placement with them.

Working at the Haymarket Theatre

The Haymarket is always looking for front on house volunteers, these volunteers will join The Haymakers group of volunteers that look after the front of house during performances as well as selling programmes and ice-creams.

The Haymakers are a very strong group, and have been fund-raising for the theatre for a number of years now; during these years they have managed to make over 35,000, with all money going towards the theatre equipping them with things that their general theatre budget cannot. As well as their love for fund-raising they also hold a number of social events that include trips out, visits to other theatres and coffee mornings, past social trips have been to see Mamma Mia!' in the West End, to the Shakespeare' Globe and Buckingham Palace. The group are often invited to a number of different events at the theatre, joining is only 2.00 and you get the chance to see lots of free theatre as well as meeting lots of new people.
